My name is Kim Governali, and to me, being creative is a way of life, and it is not merely related to a talent. I work in the fields of art direction, digital design, as well as brand innovation, which are the result of my unwavering enthusiasm, profound appreciation for visual narrative, and inquisitiveness about new technologies.
My perspective and style were early formed depending on my vast travels, along with various cultural experiences. I have realised that emotional resonance and psychological effects of font, colour, imagery, and composition are crucial for the aesthetic appeal.
My career started after I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Design and Communications with honours from the Rochester Institute of Technology. I have also received the opportunity to work on international campaigns all across the years for the well-known companies, including Nike, Verizon Wireless, Sony PlayStation, XBox, and Coca-Cola.
I strongly believe that creativity is not only a skill, but rather it is a way of life. My career in art direction, digital design, and brand innovation has remained a combination of curiosity and relentless passion for eering techniques as well as deep love for visual storytelling.
In the current time, I hold the position of Chief Creative Officer at Beautiful Story Inc. Here, I manage multidisciplinary creative teams, investigate new developments in technology and design, produce thorough style guides, and devise creative tactics that raise brand recognition. In addition, I work best in settings that allow me to push the boundaries of creativity while keeping a strategic focus and constantly striking a balance between my imagination and commercial objectives.
I had the honour of working under contract with prestigious agencies in New York, Los Angeles, the UK, and Italy before joining Beautiful Story Inc., including Y&R, VML, Mcgarrybowen, High Wide & Handsome, and others. For clients like Maserati, Dell, Chevrolet, EA Games, Chase, the Obama Foundation, and PETA, I oversaw projects. The opportunity to work with such a broad spectrum of industries has helped me in strengthening my ability to tailor creative strategies for diverse audiences, along with maintaining a strong and cohesive brand voice.
My leadership abilities were sharpened during my tenure as a Creative Director at McCann Erickson earlier in my career. I have learned about the art of managing interdisciplinary teams, along with supervising every step of production from concept development to execution in te companies like Intel, MasterCard, Microsoft, General Mills, and Verizon Wireless. Besides, I have also managed projects for companies like Hyatt Hotels, Rolex, Macy’s, and Miami Tourism as a freelance art director for esteemed firms including Y&R Brands, JWT, Turkel Miami, and Cramer Krasselt.
I have acquired a wide range of skills during the course of my work. My areas of expertise include campaign planning, digital asset production, social media strategy, visual storytelling, brand image design, and creative direction. In addition, I have extensive expertise in advanced retouching, set design, colour grading, complex image development, and photoshoot management. I tackle every project with a comprehensive, highly involved approach, whether I’m working directly with a design team or brainstorming with executives.
I currently lead cross-functional teams, produce style guidelines, build brand awareness initiatives, and advance multimedia projects in my role as Chief Creative Officer at Beautiful Story Inc. Before this, I had extensive expertise managing accounts for companies like Maserati, Dell, Chevrolet, and the Obama Foundation through long-term contractual agreements with big agencies like Y&R, VML, Mcgarrybowen, and High Wide & Handsome.
My interests are equally diverse and passionate outside of the workplace. I’m a motocross rider, a huge fan of extreme sports, a collector of designer trainers, and an F1 racing enthusiast. I also support international humanitarian concerns through groups like Women for Women International and Every Woman Treaty, and I have a strong appreciation for the culinary arts. These individual interests drive my creativity, infusing my work with new insights and vitality.
My design philosophy is straightforward but effective at its core, as I produce visually striking, unexpected results that have a personal connection. I believe that it is important to produce work that is both aesthetically pleasing and emotionally engaging, whether I’m creating high-impact visual assets, managing creative teams, or creating global brand strategy.
In retrospect, the path from passion to career wasn’t a straight line. There were many difficulties, late nights, significant risks, and even greater benefits. However, each action, change, and project helped shape me into the innovative leader I am today. What’s the best part? There is still a long way to go.
If it’s fast and cheap, it will never be good. If it’s cheap and good, it will never work out quickly. And if it is good and fast, it will never come cheap. But remember: of the three you still have to always choose two.
Think about the content that you want to invest in a created object, and only then will form. The thing is your spirit. A spirit unlike forms hard copy.
I love the feel and sophistication of its superiority. I like people with a keen mind and at the same time easy to talk to.
